It’s
a blatant understatement to say that the events leading me to take this
path in life were not fun to go through. However, once I was past the
shock of it, I realized that I was in a unique situation to take the
lemons that life had given me and plant My Lemon Orchard! I wasn’t about
to look a gift horse in the mouth … life is too short!
The
opportunity to travel the world for a year and share some of my
laugh-out-loud, fabulous, unexpected, and, periodically, poignant
experiences with others through my book is something that I could never
have predicted or anticipated.
My lemon orchard continues to grow with
the follow-up book, MY LEMON ORCHARD GETS FERTILIZED. This work includes
humorous stories from real life that the year of travel evoked;
apparently, those memories were just laying in wait for a time when I
would have the mental energy to recall them!

The third phase of growing My Lemon Orchard is sharing with readers the
thrill, joy, anxiety, and pain of going back to school in midlife. As a 43
year-old woman who will complete my two-year MBA degree in December, 2008,
I’ve experienced more than a little of each of those emotions over the
course of the program. That book is tentatively scheduled for publication
in 2009.

I hope that you
enjoy sharing these journeys with me, and that my experiences bring more
than a little happiness into your daily life. In retrospect, the week when
everything went splat for me turned out to be the best thing that could
have ever happened. At the end of the day, the only aspect of my life now
that I haven’t been able to answer is: “How come nobody ever told me that
in midlife I’d be dealing with acne and age spots at the same time?”
